EQUIPPING KEY VOLUNTEERS TO BUILD TEAMS

Workshop #3: Using the Three-thirds Process to Develop KV Teams

Watch this video to see a simple demonstration of people from Expedition Teams who are using the Three-thirds Process for training and development of student volunteers.

After you watch the video, read this article, Introduction to the Three-Thirds Process, to have a clear understanding of what this is and why it is important to use it.

The success of the Three-thirds Process is surprisingly not in the lesson content.  The content can be flexible. In fact, you are encouraged to adapt the lesson content to what is most effective in your environment. The more important factor is the “process” connected with three-thirds. The Process focuses on developing “doers of the Word” who are faithful to witness and train others and who are growing into the kind of people that God uses for building student-led movements.

We use the Three-thirds Process as the primary tool for training and development in the discipleship process.  The Three-thirds Process helps participants move beyond the mentality of a discipleship meeting or Bible study in which they only receive information. Instead, the three sections help them look beyond their own lives and see how God can use them to mobilize others.

Developing leaders is the engine that drives the future and health of the movement.  The Three-thirds training Process helps to increase the sustainability of a student-led movement because every believer is trained in leading.  The leadership pool is much greater, and new groups and new movements start only because someone being trained has initiated a new work.

Assignment:  Use the Three-thirds Meeting Planning Worksheet to plan your first meeting with your Key Volunteer or Key Volunteer team.

In this Build, you’ve learned how to develop both movements and movement leaders.  The last stage of a movement is multiply, so in the final section, you’ll see how you can develop multiplying leaders and movements.
