HOW TO FIND POTENTIAL KEY VOLUNTEERS
Workshop #4: Engage Well with Those Who Respond to a Great Commission Challenge
What are we asking Potential Key Volunteers to commit to? What are we committing to in terms of developing and working with them? You will be working in multiple universities helping each location take the “next step” from pioneering to seeing a movement begin, focusing on the places and relationships where you see God obviously working. Because of scope, you won’t be able to spend time with those who don’t wholeheartedly share your vision, so it’s important that you focus on those who are true Potential Key Volunteers and Key Volunteers. So, how can you know who to focus on initially? Below are a few suggestions:
- Train everyone to share the gospel, but focus on those who follow through.
- Model sharing the gospel as part of the exploring efforts. Show them the priority that evangelism has in building spiritual movements.
- Give those expressing interest small assignments or take them through the follow-up lessons and watch to see who carries out the assignments or completes follow-up. (Examples of small assignments).
- Increase responsibility (for PKVs who are faithful in sharing the gospel on their own and who are faithful in completing the assignments) and observe those who exhibit the characteristics of a Key Volunteer.
The Potential Key Volunteers who respond and get involved in these movement-building initiatives will most likely become the Key Volunteers who will build and lead the movement when you are not present.
Meeting and Challenging PKVs is only one part of movement launching. Working with Churches and other people in the community can also be vital in seeing healthy movements grow.
