Reading about God’s greatness as seen in the magnitude of the galaxies and in the complexity of the microscopic world … God creates unknown objects that are 34,560,000,000,000 – 172,800,000,000,000 miles in diameter, heavier than all the 150-200,000,000,000 stars (150-200 Billion) in the Milky Way. (And the Milky Way is just 1 of at least 150,000,000,000 other galaxies.) Some stars weigh more than 50,000,000 times the weight of earth (and earth weighs a measly 6,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 – 6 septillion kilograms!)
God creates, sustains and holds together colossal and massive if it were as light as a feather! … and … at the same time, He creates and maintains and holds together things like protons and quarks that physicists say are the building blocks of existence. Inside each proton are 3 quarks, of which 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (10x24 or 10 octillion) would fit on the length of this line: _____________. Then there are muons that are connected with quarks that explode into electrons and neutrinos which die within 1 / 2ooo,oooth of a second.
‘Why on earth’ am I filling this blog with all sorts of virtually meaningless numbers? Well, because, for one, they are NOT meaningless to God. He is aware of each and every star, each and every quork that He calls into being and then causes to cease to exist every 1 / 2,ooo,oooth of a second. Job 12:10 tells us that God is the Creator of everything (…in Whose hand is the life of every living thing.) He just as ably works on the subatomic scale as He does on the grander, galactic scale.
He works perfectly to bring every person around the world who responds to Him into His Kingdom, while at the very same time He is taking care of every tiny detail of my life. He is never so preoccupied with what He is doing in the Philippines and China that He must neglect our region here – He has His own timetable – and until then we must be about tending the fields until they are ripe.
It also is a good time to prepare ourselves for the work He Himself is already in the midst of doing, even though it might be unseen right now.
Don’t grow weary and lose heart! God is at work, even if you can’t see what He is doing right now. Know that He is able to work everywhere at the same time. Know that He may be choosing not to work as visibly here right now as He is in other parts of the world for a reason – until then, we must remain faithful and ready.
